Affordable childcare that feels like home
Childcare is not only personal and flexible, but also surprisingly affordable.
At Thuis van Huis, we believe it's important that parents know exactly what they're getting. That's why we offer clear pricing and help you understand the true cost of childcare, with or without childcare allowance.
How are the rates structured?
The costs for childcare for children under 18 consist of two parts: the hourly rate of the childminder and the agency costs of Thuis van Huis.
The hourly rate of the childminder
Each childminder can set their own hourly rate per child. Childcare agency Thuis van Huis acts as an advisor, ensuring the rate remains fair and appropriate for both parties. The average hourly rate is between €7.50 and €8.50 per child.
The office costs of Home from Home
For our support and administration, we charge a fixed rate of €0.70 per hour per child, with a minimum of €42.00 and a maximum of €105.00 per month per family. This ensures all costs are clear and transparent, with no surprises down the line.

Affordable childcare thanks to childcare allowance
Because we only work with registered childminders, you are eligible for childcare allowance. This means that a large portion of the costs are reimbursed by the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration.
A practical example:
- Gross hourly rate childminder office costs Home from Home: € 8.40
- Childcare allowance: up to 96% reimbursed (depending on income)
- Net hourly rate: from approximately €0.34 per hour
So you see: small-scale, personal care does not have to be expensive.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does time registration work?
Childminders are paid through the childminder agency. Childminder agency Thuis van Huis uses a simple, online time tracking system, or you can opt for fixed contract hours. We work with direct debit (unless otherwise requested) and fixed invoice dates.
Are the rates the same for every childminder?
No, the hourly rate can vary per childminder. We always ensure that the agreements are clearly stated in the contract.
Can I apply for childcare allowance for all childcare hours?
Yes, as long as the care is provided by a registered childminder and the hours have actually been invoiced. The maximum number of childcare hours for which parents can receive childcare allowance is 230 hours per child per calendar month.
What happens if my income changes?
You must report changes in your income, hourly rate, or childcare hours to the Tax Authorities. This will affect the amount of your allowance.
Do I have to pay agency fees if my child is temporarily not attending daycare?
Yes, because we will continue to support you during this period and the childcare relationship remains active, except during periods such as the childminder's maternity leave.
Do you have any questions?
Our team is always ready to support you, whether it concerns practical questions, administration or personal guidance.
