Parents
Childcare that suits your family
As a parent, you want your child to be cared for in a place where they feel safe, cared for, and happy. At Thuis van Huis, we personally help you find a caring, professional childminder who meets your needs and family's needs.
We ensure a good match, clear agreements, and a reliable foundation. This way, you can rest assured your child is in good hands and start your day with peace of mind.

The benefits of childcare
A childminder offers care just like home: small-scale, familiar, and with full attention for each child. That makes it a wonderful form of childcare.
Homely atmosphere
Children play, eat, and sleep in a familiar environment. Your childminder is the familiar face for you and your child during care. This provides peace, regularity, and a sense of security.
Flexible care times
A childminder can be flexible with care times and offers the opportunity to accommodate your personal needs.
Affordable childcare
Childcare is often more affordable than daycare. You don't pay for unnecessary hours, and even with childcare, you're entitled to childcare allowance if it's arranged through the Thuis van Huis childcare agency.
Safety and quality
Our childminders are well-trained, participate in annual training and pediatric first aid courses, and are regularly inspected by us and the Municipal Health Service (GGD). In addition to the mandatory registration in the childcare personal register, we conduct an annual Risk Assessment (RIE). This ensures quality and peace of mind, day after day.
Personal guidance
Childcare agency Thuis van Huis stands for personal contact, easy accessibility, and excellent service. We provide optimal guidance and support in both pedagogical and administrative areas. We make it as easy as possible for you.
Commitment that lasts
We stay involved, listen to your experiences, and offer advice. This way, you feel heard and supported, not just at the start, but throughout your entire foster care experience.
Our working method: working together towards the right care
We guide you step by step, from the first conversation to the annual evaluation.
1. Personal conversation & discussing wishes
We'll discuss your needs and family situation in a personal meeting. Together, we'll find the perfect childcare option for you.
2. Connection & introduction
We introduce suitable host parents and organize an introductory meeting.
Already have someone in mind? We'll check if everything meets the legal requirements.
3. Formalizing the reception
If the initial meeting is a good match, we'll schedule a matching meeting. All agreements will be reviewed, and the childcare contract will be officially signed.
4. Start reception & feedback
The reception starts, and we will stay in touch and would like to hear how things are going and whether everything is going well.
5. Evaluation and continued guidance
We remain involved: we evaluate the care annually, and of course you can always contact us with questions in the meantime.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a childminder cost per hour?
Childminders set their own rates, usually between €7.50 and €8.50 per hour per child (excluding agency fees). We're happy to advise you on what's typical in your area.
Am I, as a parent, eligible for childcare allowance if the care is arranged through you?
Yes. If you meet the requirements, you are eligible. This is because we only work with registered childminders.
Parents can apply for childcare allowance from the Tax and Customs Administration via My Allowances. Apply within three months of the first day of childcare.
You can read exactly how it works and what the conditions are on the government's website.
How can I register my child with a childcare agency?
It's very simple. You register with Thuis van Huis, and we'll find a suitable childminder and arrange an introduction meeting. If the introduction is satisfactory, we'll move on to a matching meeting where everything is discussed in detail with the childminder and the parent, and agreements are finalized.
How many children can a childminder look after at the same time?
A childminder may care for a maximum of six children, of which a maximum of five are under 4 years old, of which a maximum of four are under 2 years old, and of which a maximum of two are babies under one year old. Childminders up to 10 years old are included (from July 2026, this will be up to 8 years old).
Does a childminder also provide care before and after school or during holidays?
Yes, many host families offer flexible childcare: before school, after school and during holidays.
How do I know if a childminder is reliable?
All childminders have a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), an appropriate diploma, and a first aid certificate. Before a childminder can start, they are thoroughly screened, we conduct a risk assessment, and the Municipal Health Service (GGD) visits for an inspection. The municipality ultimately approves whether a childminder can start. Both Thuis van Huis and the GGD visit annually for inspections and perform the so-called Risk Inventory and Evaluation (RIE). Of course, Thuis van Huis visits the childminder regularly.
What happens if my host parent is sick or goes on holiday?
You can let us know, and we'll find a replacement childminder. There are no extra charges for this.
What is the difference between childcare and a daycare center?
Childcare is more affordable, more personal, and smaller, offering more peace and quiet and attention for each child. Plus, you and your child will have a familiar face every day.
