What requirements do you have to meet as a childminder?

We are looking for you!

Safe and homely care environment

At Thuis van Huis, we believe it's important that every child feels safe and comfortable. As a childminder, you create a warm, homey environment where children can play, learn, and relax. Your childcare space meets the safety and hygiene requirements of the Municipal Health Service (GGD). The annual Risk Inventory & Evaluation (RIE) ensures that your childcare remains up-to-date and safe. There's also plenty of space to play, moments of peace and quiet, and personalized attention for each child.

We guide you step by step in setting up and maintaining a safe and trusted shelter environment.

Childminder at home

It's also possible to work as a childminder in your parents' home. Even as a childminder at home, you have a significant responsibility, and the same conditions apply as above.

Pedagogical quality and personal attention

Small-scale care and personal attention are our top priorities. You'll work with a pedagogical plan tailored to the children's age and development. There's a clear daily routine, alternating between play, learning, and rest periods. You'll maintain close contact with parents and regularly share how the children are doing. We'll coach you in your daily activities. Our office also offers opportunities for further development through themed meetings, courses, and personal guidance.

We believe it's important that you continue to grow in your professional development. Together, we create a childcare environment where every child feels safe, seen, and valued. Want to learn more about working as a childminder at Thuis van Huis? We'd love to tell you more!

To become a host parent you must have the following:

  • At least an MBO 2 Care and Welfare Assistant diploma, or a diploma that is listed on the diploma list;

  • A risk assessment carried out by us in your home.

Don't meet the requirements yet? Ask us about your options, and we'll be happy to help.

If you meet all the legal requirements, Childcare Agency Thuis van Huis can send your application for a new childcare location to the municipality.

The Municipal Health Service (GGD) will visit your home and check whether the childcare location meets all hygiene and safety requirements. You will also be assessed on your pedagogical knowledge and the content of the protocols provided to you by Childcare Agency Thuis van Huis:

  • Pedagogical policy plan
  • Domestic violence and child abuse reporting code

The municipality may charge a fee for registration in the LRK. The amount of these fees varies by municipality and is your responsibility. These fees are your responsibility. We can provide you with more information about this.

If you meet all the requirements and have been approved by both the Municipal Health Service (GGD) and the municipality, you will be registered in the National Childcare Register (LRK).

We will help you with the application and guide you through these steps, so that your registration runs smoothly.
